The police in this country are not so powerful that we can't force change on their behavior if we don't like it.
Maybe they're not. Tell it to the families of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Aiyana Jones, Samantha Ramsey, and hundreds more.
None of this is new Heywood and the videos haven't changed anything. When I was in highschool I was in advanced placement courses which meant I got to take college courses that counted as highschool and college credit. I took this course that was about law enforcement ethics. We discussed so many cases like this spread out across the years. It was sickening. Police beating mentally challenged people to death, shooting a diabetic to death because they thought he was high and might attack them, accidentally killing babies in raids, mistaking things like loaves of bread for weapons and killing the people holding them. If one thing is sure it's that videos alone won't change anything. Too many people don't care. Things will change when we all band together and demand that they do.
