So a few years ago I traveled through Columbia and I noticed an interesting thing. None of the police appeared to be older than me. (I'm 30) I discovered that the Columbians (Who had a police force many many times more corrupt than ours) had simply fired almost the entire police force in the country and hired newer younger, more educated people. This broke the cycle of corrupt people hiring their corrupt friends and changed the whole system. I feel like the racism and status quo that so obviously exists in the American police system needs a similar massive over haul. We need to start from scratch, not do the normal wimpy modifications that are so typical of American politics. Keep in mind we all bear some responsibility in the continued police outrages. Our taxes are the ones who paid this asshole who choked a man to death and our unwillingness to do anything about it is why it continues. If police reform became an issue amongst the voting, middle class white people in this country, then police corruption would end relatively quickly.
