It comes down to a choice and nothing else, no lady should have to even remotely say the reason why she is there to terminate her unborn foetus. All hail bodily autonomy!
If you're referring to my post, that is not my position - at all. I'm 100% in favor of a woman's choice in the matter, and the only limitations I would want to see are those that concern whether or not the fetus has consciousness and can experience pain.
Before then, as far as I'm concerned, it is a private matter between the woman and her physician.
The argument I made, rephrased is this - even if we could consider abortion evil, it is a lesser evil than forcing a pregnancy and childbirth upon a conscious human being.
At least Minimalist seemed to be a little confused because I didn't comment on the right every woman should have to make an abortion and that could have falsely made me look a pro-life - I was just asserting that it's stupid to say only victims of rape should be able to abort - I don't consider a foetus a person but regardless a foetus' worth isn't dictated by the person who conceives them.
On a sidenote, I'm surprised by how many European countries with a pro-choice policy, including, for instance, Holland and if I'm not mistaken some Scandinavian countries, force women to a X days reflection period and make doctors basically ask 1000 times if she really wants to abort. I think abortion should be allowed ASAP (Of course an appointment needs to the scheduled)
People should stop looking at abortion as something rare that only victims of rape or women with foetus that possess mentally/physical deficiencies do - It may be needed by a fair percentage of women. Let's say my girlfriend got pregnant - She's 21 and has no financial stability, so the wise choice would be to abort, not to mention that both me and her are literally not ready to be parents, I want to have kids when I know I can give them the best life possible. I don't see abortion for this reason as being more censurable than the made because of rape, as well as I don't see anything wrong with a rape victim wanting to keep the child, it's a perfectly valid choice.
