Yes, because partisanship fuels our biases and emotions that cloud our reasoning. It breeds oppositional thinking that leads to gridlock, because people become more interested in sticking it to the other guy than actually doing what's right and rational. Rigidly aligning yourself to the opposition of the insanity simply because it is the opposition creates a stagnant system in which functionality gets trampled by the fight to prove which ideology is correct.
The reason our government is fucked isn't so much due to the fact that one side is completely insane. It's due to the fact that both sides revel in the us vs. them mentality.
