You don't have "the" concept of God. Just the negative aspects you were brought up on.

God doesn't live in a book, or on someones lips.... or in anyone's words or deeds. Theres a start for you!

Admittedly, when I imagined myself to be a Christian as a child, I never thought of god in a fearful way. I thought of god as a benevolent, infinitely wise and ancient person who wished me well.

But then I had the luxury of never having read the bible or attending a church after the age of five. The bible is a bummer.
