Few reasons. Speaking personally, I came because I like to challenge my beliefs. I belonged to a Christian forum as well but it was mostly a circle jerk. That's one reason I've not been around so much since my deconversion. I had lots of fun on my old Christian hangout til I got banned.

For a lot of folk I think they have a nagging guilt that they're not being persecuted enough. It's tough being a Christian in a Christian nation. Three choices, one, fly to Iraq or Syria and work as a missionary, two, hang about a forum where they feel marginalised, or three, tune into Fox news and believe the claims that there is a war on Christians, waged by your Muslim president.
