Everyone eventually ends up dead. If a woman did not have a family or husband, she would likly have been forced into prostitution, or some other terrible lot.
More of a fact that woman would end up dead. They were pulled into sex slavery, raped in streets then killed, there is more reasons though but women back then weren't treated very humanly and they were very uneducated it sickens me to think people could do this to another human being.
I understand it still happens and hell the middle east still follows that tradition of treating woman like objects.
