I'd also like to add that the believers arguing "no true Christian" are in essence damning other Christians with their judgement, and thereby stepping into their god's province. It takes an awful lot of arrogance to do that.
Actually - there are Thousands of different religions in which a "christ" is considered one of or the god - and belief in any one of them qualifies you to be a "christian". THat is the problem with xtianity - no matter what you believe - you can find some "church" who is willing to take your money. There is NO set belief or set of beliefs other than a "title" - which "christ" is - not a name.
Since it is unquestionably absolutely true that there was NO such person named Jesus Christ who lived in the time between 6 BCE and 35 CE - you can make all the rest of the story up too.
And they do - down to the point of using Olde English pronunciation of the bible as being required - even when english did not exist at that time.
