Feynman once said that he did his picture exhibition anonymously because he didn't want people to praise it simply because they were by feynman - he likened it to a dancing dog or something, which is not famous because the dancing is particularly good, but because it's a dog. Same with the pope: he gets great praise from all sides, including liberals, for being slightly less appalling, because he's the pope. I fail to be impressed.
