"God works in mysterious ways"
I saw an episode of Penn and Teller's show "BULLSHIT!" that dealt with the Bible. At one point, Penn addressed this asinine argument by saying, "God works in mysterious, inefficient and breathtakingly cruel ways". I loved it and I always use that as a comeback when some ninny wants to tell me that "God works in mysterious ways".
