Because he was so desperate to save people from hell he had his own son die a gruesome death. Someone that dedicated to the cause of preventing people from going to hell would certainly find that trivial compared to what he has already done, and he knows it could save the souls and strengthen the faith of millions.
No, because that would take away choice. Also, it would mean you would know there's a God and then you would have to make a decision, no more sitting on your hands.
