Charlie Hebdo vs Russian Orthodox Church

Adding to the chorus (ok, pretty much just the Muslims, Catholics and now the Russian Orthodox) of religious leaders decrying mockery of their various faiths, we have this guy, looking like an extra from Game of Thrones, wearing his unmockable get-up and super-serious silly hat:



complaining in what I assume is a whiny voice:

"The cartoons of Prophet Mohammad are childish caricatures compared to what this publication allows itself in mocking the feelings of Christians," Kirill said in an excerpt of the sermon broadcast by Rossiya 24 state television.

"Today, in saying 'no' to terrorism, killings, violence, we also say 'no' to the inexplicable drive by a certain group of people to deride religious feelings," he said.

In response I say, just say 'no' to being deferential to someone's invisible best friend(s) and making their feelings sacrosanct.

Inexplicable drive? Absolutely necessary.
