It's enough of a problem for Christians that they have to place responsibility for it on someone else, even though it goes against the way we consider responsibility and liability in every other walk of life. In any other facet of our lives, you are responsible and liable for the work you do. When it comes to god, the work is responsible for itself and god is the 'good guy' for cleaning up someone's else's mess.
And the only explanation is to repeat the claim, because there is no explanation. It's the equivalent of a battered wife who explains that her bruises are her own fault because she provoked her husband to violence.
