The changing topics is not so much the issue. It's the rabbit hole that each change in topic leads us down, and the timing of said topic switch.
The fact that when you know you're wrong, your approach is to delve into things like the definition of the word "intimate" when the meaning was clear, or a cherry picked definition of a double negative, instead of sticking to the topic. Because you know you're wrong.
