I can't speak for Esquilax, with whom I tend to agree with the 'bling bling' comment (not that it necessarily wasn't racist, but where the benefit of the doubt should be), but 'fried chicken' and 'watermelon' in place of bling I would see as racist. Largely because those foods are not only still associated with a particular race, but because their use has always seemed to have a demeaning quality. I'm not excatly sure exactly WHY they're demeaning beyond being stereotypical, plenty of white people like those things too, but it's a fact that going in that direction is hurtful and appalling.
