I feel better and I don't think I'm going to have nightmares about it so perhaps I was further along than I thought. What is this "rapture" you're talking about? That's the second time I've heard that word this week but never before.
the rapture is what al mainstream Christendom is waiting for, although according to what Jesus said it should have already happened. Jesus is supposed to come a second time and all the Christians will be gathered u[p and just disappear some kind of way. In Matthew 24 Jesus describes the tribulation and his second coming and the rapture and says verily I say to you this generation shall not pass until all these things have happened. The church either ignores this or, when confronted, comes up with some convoluted re-definition of the word "generation."
What denomenation are your parents? I don't understand devout Chistians who neve told you abot the rapture.
Yes I have been reading about something like that in my Christ Conundrum book. Where the disciples etc were expecting the Kingdom of God to come in their lifetime but it never did? It was never called the rapture though in that book.
To be honest I don't know what denomination my parents are. They're not orthodox like CofE (Church of England); we've hardly ever been in that sort of traditional church building except for marriages and funerals, and in fact none of the churches we've been to even had their own building as far as I can remember. At the moment they go to a Baptist church that meets in a school. But I've heard other words like Pentecostal in the past and my dad is very keen on evangelical TV preachers like Benny Hinn, Billy Grayam, and Joyce Meyer.
