Sceptics get a very poor deal in films.
Yeah, it's not just that writers show disdain for my peer group, it's a more of a general problem of educating society - many movies are essentially propaganda against a rational world view. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing whatsoever against "supernatural" stuff happening in movies, of course. But the audience is shown, again and again, a cartoon version of rationality within those fictions which is tantamount to fanatic denial. The narrative is that a skeptical outlook is nothing but zealous denial of "higher things", and that the people holding it are necessarily troubled souls who are blinded by their whatever. It's poisonous. Dumbass writers probably got laughed at because of their reiki club membership and now want to show them.
