But yeah, he got told not to touch holy stuff. No excuses ever, just as there is no excuses for sin ever. The idea is to show that even if something horrible would happen, you don't sin to prevent it.
And this god has such an inconsistent methodology. He does a mystical smite to Uzzah, but he uses water to drown everyone on Earth in Genesis. Why use a flood in one, and a magical smite in the other?
Using god logic, god should have sent a torrential flood and drowned everyone in the valley after Uzzah touched the ark.
