I heard on the radio as I was waking up this morning that gay rights groups were outraged over anti gay remarks by a leader in the Mormon Church. What struck me was the nature of his comments. It was something along the lines of:
"There are those who say homosexuality isn't a choice, that the traits are inborn. Not so. Why would God do that?"
My thought was, "That's not offensive. That's a great question."

And so I come back to the topic of moderate Christianity, one that is compatible with science and modern concepts of civil rights. Bad news Christians: It doesn't exist as a viable theological stance. The Bible says what it says, end of story. Either evolution is a lie and homosexuality is a choice and all science that says otherwise is a plot by the devil -or- the Bible is bullshit. There is no third option.
The only offensive thing about this Mormon leader is that he believes in Mormonism.
