Why? Why does anyone need to change anything about themselves based upon your insecurities? You certainly don;t seem to think that you need to change anything about yourself when teh gayz suggest it. Should they be convinced by what doesn't convince you?
You aren't going to go to his house and stone him for it, I assume, and I'd hate to think that you're relying on some buddy of yours..... a fairy perhaps...to do the same or worse?
