Well I got it from the Christian theologian R.C. Sproul, who argues that God needs nothing to sustain him, because he has within himself the power of being. He therefore was not created.
He would have to establish the existence of God and prove that he needs to sustenance. If it was framed like "If God exists he would be self sustaining" i wouldn't object, the If just isn't qualified.
Was this initially a response to an argument?

Min's pounded that nail and wore it out and should get a different nail to pound for a while, the one he has worn out is circular and if he can come up with a new one I'm sure it will be the same.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
