No self-respecting Jew runs around going, "Omg! You're totally going to sheol when you die!!!" For Judaism, sheol does not serve the same purpose that hell does for Christians. Sheol isn't a threat. ... Judaism teaches that it's just where everyone goes when they die; good, bad, atheist, and theist. It's like a storage container for souls that are stripped of their identity, personality and consciousness.

Once my soul has been scrubbed of everything that made it mine it hardly matters to me in what manner it is stored. Explains the jew's greater emphasis on the living world than the magical special one you might win by treating the actual one with complete indifference. Of course I don't worry much about my 'soul' past the point that it informs my sense of self. Past that I don't anticipate having any further use for it.
