Actually no. But it serves my purposes too. Now we come to think of gays as something resembling a common "nation" or at least a minority of their own, and you tried to pull off a game of words on that basis, linking homophobia to xenophobia or racism. Obviously, it's unrelated. I do not really distinct between different ethnicities of gays. All are equally gay, suffice to say....
You could use any modifier you wish. I chose "Turks" because it illustrates the ridiculous and offensive nature of this statement. I could have said "People who wear purple shorts" and it would be equally ignorant. Expressing bigotry towards someone on the basis that they are different from you is garbage regardless of whether the difference is nationality, race....or sexual orientation. It's called "the fear of the other", and it actually does cover all of these things, as they are intrinsically tied to each other. So, obviously, someone never paid attention in class.
