The point is the universe came from nothing. The universe was preceded by its non-existence

You have no clue, (and neither does science) if the universe "came from nothing", or even if it "came from" .... anything ... or "at all'.
Roger Penrose, (Stephen Hawking's friend ... cosmologist at Oxford) wrote "Cycles of Time" in which he thinks the universe always existed.
The Big Bang is the inflationary epoch ... not the "beginning". "Coming from" is a temporal reference, (as discussed by Dr. Sean Carroll in his debate with WLC).
You cannot employ a temporal reference in the absence of time. All you can do is say nothing ... and that's all you know, and that's all we know right now.
