I doubt that any of them could have foreseen our professional army (making a "militia" obsolete) - or that if they did, they gave it much concern at the time. Of course, this is not actually a document "granting us rights" - we have them..they're all ours (don't forget about 10). It's a document that limits government power with respect to -some- rights. But suppose that this -was- all that it were limited to (that either the founders would have or we have since decided to take that approach). Are you okay with militias cropping up to take advantage of that?
