I find debating on the internet makes me angry and resentful.
I don't like being angry and resentful. So I stopped doing it, generally. I still allow myself to be roped in, but afterwards it always reaffirms why I stopped getting into it on the interwebs with most people.
Now there are a limited subset of people that I will still engage with, because I know we can have a reasonable exchange of ideas, or else I think I can convince them of something. Usually with the latter, we are really closely aligned to begin with.

"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
