The Jewish laws that Jesus rebuked the pharisees and priest about do not apply to Christians. Christ is the fulfillment of the prophesies and the law by living the perfect sinless life, dying on the cross and being raised from the grave.

But isn't torture of Jesus culmination of all inanities and violence of the Old Testament? I mean here you have a God that can't just forgive humans because in the past some guy ate from a wrong tree (who probably never even existed according to scientific observations) thereby condemning future generations of Jews to pogroms and persecution as 'Christ-killers'. We're talking about millions of people that have been killed because of NT.
If God wanted to forgive our sins, why not just forgive them and skip the sadomasochism?
