Yes he did, and it all went wrong there too oddly from the creatures who knew him the best, they decided he wasn't worth worshiping.

1/3 of the angels rebelled. 2/3 decided he was worth worshipping.

Demonstrate that angels exist please. While you are there add talking snakes, talking donkeys, unicorns and dragons. Your bible claims all of those are real.
While you are at it, how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? The answer is 16, but do you know why that is?

I miss out on a life that I like now and eternal life that's even better if I'm not brought into existence. Why should god punish me for the sake of those who ignore or mock him? That position makes no sense.

You really miss the point.  If bible god appeared right now directly in front of me, would I believe in him? Sure. Would I worship him? Absolutely not, he is an immoral thug unworthy of even being vaguely liked as an occasional acquaintance. 
Why might I say that? Well according to bible god...
Slavery is moral.
Rape is moral. Except if you are a woman in which case it's your own fault.
Murder is moral.
Human sacrifice is moral.
Genocide is moral.
Capricious random death is moral.
Butchering infants under 1 yo is moral.
Incest is moral.
I could continue, but seriously, would you worship that kind of scumbag?
