They're definitely extra work. They're pretty though, and they make beautiful sounds. Balls of limitless energy in need of constant approval.
This place came with a double kennel and alot of woods along a creek..so we've always had a dog out here.....but the neighbors have cattle and thoroughbreds...so we need one that can't make a legitimate run at injuring/killing all that noise. My wallet isn't long enough to pay for Equine Money Pit the Third.
Had to get the last big dog (Pongo, a rescue from the shelter) a new home after it savaged a neighbors pigs when it got loose (and dozens of the roosters he breeds for cockfighting). He was a huge fucker...the kids used him as a pillow, even my youngest, as an infant and I never had a worry in the world about it....but you just couldn't trust him around livestock. He was also bred and trained to hunt so I couldn't really fault him for what he did. He's living in town now. More kids, fewer tasty standing racks of ribs. The kids still haven't forgiven me, lol. I actually tried to tell them that santa took him to a new home (because, ofc, santa brought him to our house)..and that hatred they have at what they think was betrayal bled out onto santa. They trash talk saint nick..because I convinced them he was complicit in stealing their dog and giving it to some other little monsters.
Easy isn't going to kill or maim any of the big shit around here....and if she inconveniences the man who runs the chicken pit I consider that karmic fucking justice. The rabbits are his too. I have no idea what he does with all the rabbits.
-The amount of hunting dogs discarded on roadsides in appalachia is insane. If you want a dog..you can just drive up the bluegrass highway whistling.

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
