In enough numbers to stop research completely and that people have to die in order to fulfill Christian theology.

Really it's a myth?!! So Index Librorum Prohibitorum where Church for centuries forbade people to read science books like Kepler, Francis Bacon, Erasmus Darwin, Copernicus, and Galileo is just a myth.
And also many theologians from Aquinas on advocated the killing of heretics as hardly an endorsement of freethinking is just a myth. And Martin Luther's attacks on reason are also myth! And Christians destroying old science books like from Archimedes that were re-written with liturgical text is also a myth.
Not unless you live in a parallel universe of a deluded Christian.
