Nothing to do with maths. It’s to do with the rules of the game. If you get a pawn all the way to your opponents first rank, you can play it as a queen (technically, you can play it as any piece you like).
Since there are 16 pawns in the game, you can reach a total of 18 queens.

I think we are saying the same thing. If you get all the way to the other side with a low rank, you move up to their rank. So yea, a smart enough player can get 18 queens.
It is a more complicated game than checkers, but the same rules apply to a certain extent. In checkers if you get your piece across to the other side it gets "kinged". A queen in chess has far more power than a pawn, so if I am reading you correctly, depending on how one plays, it is possible for a lower rank to move into a higher seat of power.

Al Jarreau. He’s dead.

FUCK ME! Damn, I did not know that. I love that song. Boy how time flies.
Ok
There were TWO games in the Redskins defeat of the Miami Dolphins the year they beat them in the Super Bowl 17. What two games that season ended up in the same final score, what were the teams that year? After the Redskins won, the soda company Coke printed out a commemorative bottle denoting the Redskins wins that year. If you still have one, you can look at all the scores of the Reskins that year and figure out which two games the Skins played that ended up in the same score.
Extra Credit. Who did John Riggins beat as far as number/name to score the defining touchdown that gave the Redskins the win?
