Also, my point was that you cannot speak for everyone else. You seem to be pretty sure everybody agrees with you.
I certainly hope that they (you) would! Mental retardation, schizophrenia, brain tumors, etc., are not things that individuals choose, and, yet such conditions can have profound consequences with respect to one's behavior. For instance, the Kentucky legislature here very recently passed a law forbidding the death penalty for those murderers that have grave mental illness, implying that they at least accept the compatibilist view of free will. As Dr. Sam Harris points out in his book on the subject, even the compatibilist view is fraught with problems, as modern day fMRI experiments are able to predict the outcomes of your choices before you even are consciously aware of said choices. And, yet, how can an individual be said to freely choose an action that they are only consciously aware of after the fact?
