They strongly expected..and have always had good reason to expect..that the cops would be on Their Side. Many of them expressed this, and their genuine confusion and disappointment... to those cops, to their faces, all throughout the attempt.
That expectation was obvious, and reinforced by video evidence of some rioters and some PD taking pics together.
Hmm, what do you call that, aiding and abetting? Or just collusion?
