This is one point I actually see Fr0d0's point on. Theres plenty of reasons to hate someone but, to let it affect you in such a way is a personal failure.

I'm extremely proud that despite the idiocy, negligence and positively disgusting behaviour I am surrounded by every single day I am the good person I want to be instead of a reflection of the above personality traits.

You may be justified, it may be the only effective way of making them back down. Is it really the person you want to be, and be known as?

But ultimately, what does it achieve?

It's not always about achievement - sometimes it's just about sheer fascination.

But anyway - dialogue and debating is a small price to pay for the potential learning and growth.]

And it's a small price to pay (if you enjoy it, it's not a price but it's a bonus!) to spend time discussing these topics :p

Raising awareness in general is cool (even if you suck at it, you'll probably raise SOMETHING at SOME point in time :p).

The point is: what is the point of being a theist?

The point is that I think the alternative is MORE pointless - and atheism frees you up from believing in complete and total nonsese (in respect to the supernatural and "God", etc)...

And also atheism tends to quite often be a by-product of rationality and skeptical thought

Although the definition for atheism is simply not believing in God, everything else is optional.
