and you must understand everything there is to know about life and the universe do you? i don't understand everything about physics and biology but neither does anyone else so don't pull that on me. science changes all the time so clearly humans don't understand it.

I don't claim to have absolute knowledge of anything. However you've clearly demonstrated that you know little to nothing about evolution. Evolution isn't about a cat changing into a dog, or a bird changing into a wale. If you thought this, then you are a billion light years off. You know nothing about evolution.
Science is a tool, to look into the unknown and gain a measure of understanding. Science isn't about claiming to 'know' anything. It's a tool, a process of learning. You've obviously failed to understand that too.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Is it a question of what you're getting out of it? I wouldn't compare it to physical relationships. They're just different & that would be silly. Athough there is some crossover... both relate to us.
The question is not that I find the mystery intriguing, the question is seeking an answer to that mystery of why theists love their god, and why some burn with passion for it more than anything else they regard real or unreal.

That's not answering my question. Why do you love your god?

Quote:Why do some people love, say, Britney Spears?
I'm aware of many reasons for why people love women with talent, beauty and money, not to mention said person being an artist and entertainer as well. But that's evading my question again isn't it? I'm talking about your deity concept.

How do you know that God isn't?
Being real and alive is not often a requirement. People love their fantasies, dreams and childhood belongings for example. God being loved by theists simply because he/she/it is real is a very weak and vague answer. Tapeworms are real. Why don't you love them also?

I should have known Chipan you'd manage to bollocks up a simple and straightforward question.

Let's try again: I'm asking you *why* you *love* your *god*.

'i don't understand everything about physics and biology but neither does anyone else'

This is very true.

And also the reason why scienctist specialise in an area of a field, any you are making a presumption based on your lack of knowledge.

I didn't say anything about intrigue. I put forward a tangible benefit. That's what I get, and why I have to love God.

You don't "have" to love god.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Why do we love what we cannot know? Why do we love beauty? Why do we love awe and wonder? Why do we love the idea of nurture and care? Why do we love the idea of infinity? Why do we love explanation of cause?
Brevity is the soul of wit.

Its a popularly supported delusion...any other delusion would be mocked back into the closet or treated by professionals.

#1 - DNA very much came from a lifeless source. Anyone with even the slightest education in science knows that DNA is made of Hydrogen, Carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen....all 4 of which are lifeless elements.

DNA is proof positive that life comes from lifelessness. All you have to do is study science.

#2 - If you are using buildings from humans as a proof that the cosmos needs a builder, and you REALLY believe it is a good argument, then you must also believe that there are thousands of Gods, each doing a small part to build the cosmos.

Just as I can point out that a building cannot be built by one man, if we use this argument then apparently the cosmos required many creators.

And why do they have to be gods? Why can they be scientists who created an alternate reality who created us and then let us be? Why do they have to be all powerful and all knowing? From what I see, if this world is designed by intelligence, then that intelligence was either faulty or malevolent. No loving god would design the flagellum of a flesh eating bacteria.

Besides, I have always laughed hard and mocked people who say shit like "See that building! It didnt build itself. Someone had to make. I feel the same way about the universe."

There is so much fail in that statement that sometimes I am speechless to see grown and otherwise intelligent humans honestly using it as a "convincing" argument.

I don't know. If God was all omnihot and willing to put out, I might want to get me some of that. You might even tell God you love her, send her flowers and stuff. I'm not going to be one of those pussy whipped fools that put her on a pedestal though. She'd have to be my bitch.

I can understand a person loving an infinitely compassionate,and benevolent god.Who wouldn't?

I can also understand somebody being terrified of a dead cunt like YHWH, and doing ANYTHING he demands to keep him placated. But LOVE him? Why? Stockholm syndrome? The pathology where the victim loves his abuser?
