So it benefits you to love God? Is that why you love it?

Why do you love the God/deity you believe in? Why do you love a transcendental creator being that you cannot even interact directly with; that cannot show affection, comfort, or spend a moment of the day embracing to let each other know how you both feel?

I'm not talking about if God as a 'person' is worthy of love here, or deserves love. Across history there have been an abundance of detestable egoistical people, vile tyrants unworthy of love, who are loved all the time. I personally know a good few anti-socials who can't or won't reciprocate have yet still somehow won people's confidence and devotion, loved by the entire community, and mourned when they pass away.

I'm asking what your God has done for you to feel these emotions. Why do you feel compassion and kindness for a remote God yet not all of humanity that lives alongside you? What are your conditions for loving him/her/it?

Just why do you love your deity more than anyone else alive or dead?

Well, there are Gods to be loved, and Gods to be feared.
And why not, I mean?
Why do some people love, say, Britney Spears?

Are you implying that you love god because she wears very little clothing and sings well?
is that so? can they interbreed? it's funny how animals who breed that are too different create hybrids which have no reproductive capability. what can we conclude from this?
I have no idea if they can interbreed, and it doesn't matter. Only similar animals can interbreed- giraffes and deer are separated by enough evolution that I wouldn't be at all surprised if they couldn't, even if they share a common ancestor.

no, there is no law of nature that states how order can be created from disorder.

no, it's not that i don't understand it, it's that it's so complicated it couldn't have just put itself together. does understanding how a car works allow you to come up with an explination on how it put itself together? and i believe the earth is around 6000 to 7000 years old. this is b/c i believe the literal creation story in the bible. there is no evidence to support a kind of animal changing to a different kind of animal. example: apes to humans, horses to giraffes.

Actually, there's a ton of evidence.

You would find similar things all around, if you bothered to look.

You think of order as a thing, when in fact it is not. Order is simply disorder that we can see and understand.

Think about that for a few minutes.

not really. we don't understand how the human brain works exactly yes we consider it orderly. most of the things in this universe that are orderly we do not understand. the differance between what is orderly and what is not is organizagion. organization does not just happen, it is organized by someone or something.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

RE: Theists: Why do you love God?
The reason I love God: because He loves me, because He does forgive me of my sin through the sacrifice of his Son, he gave up his Son to a death on a cross for me, why shouldn't I love him. God brings peace to my life when troubles seem to rule the day. He allows me to live another day, this is one of many reasons to love him and to worship him. He has given me eternal life. He gives me opportunities to help others when they have needs I can help with. He gives me good loving friends who care for me even with all my faults. He's my Father, friend, companion, savior, prayer partner, provider and no one else comes close to fulfilling my life as he does, there is so much more but I believe you can see why I love God.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

i simply commented on his deffinition of order as it is flawed. we consider many things orderly that we do not understand.

Prove it.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

well every time we find something organized we can infer that someone organized it example: stonehenge. they're just random big rocks that don't make anything complicated other than a circle, but we assume they were placed there by someone as we know of no natural process that can do that. how does applying the same to more complicated things make it different?
