RE: Where do atheists turn in times of crisis?

It can depend on the crisis, but in all crisis: I attempt to minimize the negatively-valued while preserving as much of the positive-valued as I can with a reasonable level of safety, prioritizing things of particularly high-value to me first.
Praying is a waste of time that can increase the damage of the crisis while decreasing the number of valuable things preserved.
Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day

You sure as shit won't find us on our knees praying to an imaginary sky-daddy to solve our problems.

I usually turn to my sister - she's the only person who's always there for me no matter what.
"No-one who decides that scientific evidence is not for him and that his own experience or the stories of others is the be all and end all of deciding what's true ever has the right to call people searching for reliable, repeatable evidence narrow-minded. That is hypocrisy of the most laughable kind." Derren Brown - Tricks of the Mind.
