This judge is worried that this might be a difficult case......what an asshat.

How can this be anything but a blatant violation of the Establishment Clause? First the stupid courts ruled that "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is devoid of any religious meaning, now lawyers are trying to claim that the "Our Father" prayer is not Christian? What a bunch of bullshit.

Frankly, the Establishment Clause says there will be no establishment of religion period, not "you can pray before public meetings as long as it's a non-denominational, all-inclusive prayer." They shouldn't even be having a prayer before a city or county council meeting. After all, what is a prayer? It's talking to a god, which is a religion.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

It's not difficult at all.

Tell those phony assholes to stop praying and get to fucking work.

Part of the theme in 1984 included the variable definitions of words. In this sense, I see the above as a demonstration of claiming prayer is not prayer.

Praying before government meetings is doubleplusungood.

Why can't people be satisfied to pray in silence? Why must prayer be a public show for all to see? It seems like showing off the faith is more important to some people than just having faith.

Freedom is slavery.
War is peace.
Religion is secular.
We have always been at war with Eastasia.

I'd oppose this whether it was non-denominational or not. Be that as it may, arguing that it's not xtian is beyond stupid.

That's exactly the reason, dear.

Pompous, sanctimonious asswipes who are probably dipping into the public till the rest of the time.

Watch the two sides go to work.

One side, the judicial banch, will argue that the prayer has nothing to do with Christianity

The other side, the religious citizens, will complain that people are trying to remove Christianity from the government.

Both sides are Christians, and both are willing to say or do anything to keep their religion in the government. Words to be twisted? Okay. hypocrisy? Okay. Anything for our Christ. Suggest that a prayer in the new testament in christs own words is not Christian? Okay...just as long as it stays in the government, the Christians will not consider it an insult if a right wing judge says that the Lords prayer isnt Christian.

Then you have those "dont recite it if it offends you." But, if you DONT stand up and act like you are reciting it, then people WILL point you out of the crowd and they WILL approach you asking why you didnt pray. Why? Because they are offended that you didnt pray their Christian prayer.

"Give us this day our daily bread" = socialism. "Thy will be done" = anti-freewill. "as we forgive those who trespass against us" = Something most Christians will not do. "Lead us not into temptation" = anti-freewill.
