Don't be silly. Discussing how great Turkey is and how nationalistic and pure the people are never gets old. In fact, I think that in every thread I ever post in I should always refer to that brilliant old nation Turkey, and always express how much better it is than every other nation.

I do not bring up the relevant discussions. You do. Obviously you just feel the need to hear about those things.

Let's see here...

Yes, same sex couples can marry.

No, religious bigots can fuck off back to their caves.

The End.

See that wasn't so hard. Big Grin

It is NOT 1603 nor is it 329 for that matter.

That same book has been used to justify a ban in interracial marriage, subjugation of women and genocide of Native Americans.

Quote:this would undermine the institution of marriage and challenge the authority of the Church,

No it would not. The government would still allow a man and woman to sign a marriage license.

And the only authority ANY church has is the authority their flocks give them, the government itself does not favor one religion over another and our laws are neutral. I got married as an atheist WITHOUT a priest. Your church and the god you claim have absoultely NO authority over me.

This really reminds me of how great Turkey is. Too bad they keep all their superior blood to themselves. God knows we could really use more of it here in the U.S. Maybe they should consider at least starting an international sperm bank so that our women can give birth to superior children .. for the good of the planet.

To who? I'll talk about it every chance I get until our society has government equality on the issue. Anything less is sweeping it under the rug. Gays are second class citizens, no matter that they pay taxes, and that most are moreal decent people who do the same things I do.

This is like saying "Segregation is boring".

You tempt me, but I shouldn't. For Napoleon's sake.

Well, speaking of second class citizenry, how about second class "world citizenry"? While you enjoy the benefits of living in the western world, the peoples of Africa starve.

Government equality is already there. It provides equality to people to whom marriage is actually relevant. It's really irrelevant if gays are in consideration.
Segregation, so to speak, is not there because people want to be assholes, it's there because it needs to be there. There needs to be a clear line which seperates sexual deviancy from normal sexuality which has the ability to spawn other human beings, which is what marriage used to be all about.

Please can you explain how it's irrelevant for people, irrespective of their sexuality, sexual behaviour or sexual identity, who love each other to be able to celebrate their commitment to each other in the manner they wish?

Wrong. Absolutely the wrong way round. Segregation is there because people want to be assholes. There is no such thing as sexual deviancy for consenting people of sexual maturity. Marriage has respected this at various points in history. On that basis, why should marriage legislation exist at all?
Sum ergo sum
