I would happily tell you to tell these young 20something, educated, married couples that the bible is a lie and that they should go and be happy; work hard at staying together and that life is never what it says in any book. Christian, Muslim and Judaic doctrine is inadequate to answer anything that petains to real life and is just a bunch of stories that are woefully out of date.

That's a fair question and one I will answer now. If I believe in my faith, then I have to be able to answer harsh critiques. If the only people I ever talk to are other Christians, it just becomes a giant "we know we're right and they are wrong" circle jerk.

I am admitting that young people as a whole are non-congitive. My group is no different, but that isn't good enough for ideas of faith.

Well, we just met so I understand your skepticism. As me anything you want except my phone number or social security number and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

We live in a small town. Not a lot of diversity of opinion or thought. As I read through any forum debating religious ideas, I see example after example of mind numbing ignorance on the part of Christians.

One of the guys in our group put it this way, "if you asked my grandparents why they believe something about God they say 'because it's in the Bible'." Well that's not good enough and it makes us look like fools.

I want real thoughts from real people who happen to disagree with us. Christianity should be able to defend itself in the arena of ideas. This is the arena of ideas.

Don't underestimate the cognitive abilities of "Young people" they are probably being polite so you don't look bad.

NEVER underestimate the cognitive abilities of the 114 -30 year old age group mate. They are light-years ahead of us in understanding of what is going on NOW.

step off your high moral christian sanctimonious horse and TALK to them about their worries and fears and show them HOW they can learn. give them sceptical and critical thinking skills and them watch then flourish.
