Need help for a Sunday School class

Given the vast number of contradictory religions, how can you be sure that your religion is the "true" religion given that every other beleiver of every other religion thinks the same about theirs?

We live in a small town. Not a lot of diversity of opinion or thought. As I read through any forum debating religious ideas, I see example after example of mind numbing ignorance on the part of Christians.

Ooops The theists on this forum will be hurt to hear that mate.

One of the guys in our group put it this way, "if you asked my grandparents why they believe something about God they say 'because it's in the Bible'." Well that's not good enough and it makes us look like fools.

NEVER underestimate the cognitive abilities of the young...you are at fault there mate.

I want real thoughts from real people who happen to disagree with us. Christianity should be able to defend itself in the arena of ideas. This is the arena of ideas.

Here's some questions-

1.) My grandmother, who is a devout Christian is not going to be seeing me in heaven. This is mostly because I don't believe that god and heaven exists, and I blaspheme every time I get a chance... oh! and I would much rather go to hell. Anyway, How will heaven be enjoyable for my grandmother, knowing that her beloved granddaughter suffers in eternal torment? Will she just forget I exist? If so, won't that make her... not exactly herself?

2.) Why did god make parasites? That's kinda fucked up. Did we really need worms that bore through the eyes of little children? What was god thinking there?

3.) Why do so many whales have vestigial limbs/pelvic structures. God just throw those in to confuse us?

4.) Why is homosexuality an abomination, but eating shrimp and pig meat perfectly okay? Why didn't Jesus mention homosexuality if it's such a huge christian deal?

5.) Why did god have to send himself to earth as his own son, so that he could live and be tortured before execution just to forgive people? I am just a regular human, and all I have to do to forgive is decide to do so... so it seems highly illogical to me.

6.) Why did god create a seemingly infinite number of galaxies? What's the point of creating such a volatile universe that is absolutely apathetic toward our existence.

7.) How can there be both "free will", and a master plan? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I could think of questions all day. Let me know if you need more.

Which makes me wonder; Phil asked "I want to know why Christians tend to be so stupid they confuse the bible (which is their claim) to be their evidence?"

Is logic and reason your claim or your evidence?

Logic and reason are tools we use to find scientific evidence. Are you really trying to compare the bible to logic and reason? If you are, read my signature and apply it to yourself.

That's a fair question and one I will answer now. If I believe in my faith, then I have to be able to answer harsh critiques. If the only people I ever talk to are other Christians, it just becomes a giant "we know we're right and they are wrong" circle jerk.

I am admitting that young people as a whole are non-congitive. My group is no different, but that isn't good enough for ideas of faith.

Not an april fools joke, just good timing I guess.

As I said from the beginning, I'm not here to troll or spam your board. I may pm some of you to see if you wish to hear our reply, either privately, or on the forum.

Please feel free to post more questions. They are valuable to me for a number of reasons.

First, they demonstrate a view of the world that is not typically expressed in our "Bible Belt" community.

Second, they help me reference what we as Christians are doing wrong in our presentation of our beliefs. From what I've read on this board so far, based on much of the theism expressed, we've got a lot of work to do.
