So god commands his followers to commit genocide because he can? Sounds like a lovely bloke, I can see why you want to worship him.

It was Hitler's will to start the holocaust, yet I don't see you justifying that.

Is it your belief that hitler was God? What of his claims of atheism?

Hi Drich,
I realize I just got here and there is a lot to learn from this website, but I'm gonna have to ask you to take this discussion elsewhere.

I asked people to provide tough questions with the understanding that I'm not here troll their site. I'm sure there are other threads to argue hitler on.

Thanks,
Adam

My apologies to Phil. He posted several questions here and apparently I mistook his involvement for interest. I reached out to him with a science question and he threatened to report me as spam. No spamming intended Phil and I'll honor your request.

You sent me an unrequested PM to try to bait me into your bullshit and you have the balls to claim it's my fault? Go fuck yourself then drink a bottle of bleach.

2) Why is it that a Christian can so easily see the falsehood of EVERY other religion but their own when they all demand belief in precisely the same way and on precisely the same grounds?

3) Why is it that christians can be so rational and demand evidence and reason in so many other areas but have this compartmentalized blind spot for religion which they feel perfectly acceptable believing on faith in spite of the mountain of evidence against every one of it's claims?

4)Why is it that christians trust science when it makes their sattelites function, makes their cell phones work and cures their diseases but when the EXACT same scientific claims that these devices and methods are based on contradict their religious claims they suddenly are completely opposed to scientific methods?

5) Why is it that every conversation with a theist includes the same three tired "arguments" a) What if you're wrong? b) Pol Pot, Stalin, and Hitler were atheists so doesn't atheism make you evil? c) So you believe the universe and life just magically appeared?

6) What other system of thought in the world would you allow someone to believe merely on the basis of their "faith" in it? Marxism? Fascism? Nazism? Anarchism?

That's it for now. I've got a million but I doubt they are going towards valid intellectual and scientific pursuits. You appear to have the fundamentalist mindset of no matter what you are not going to give up your beliefs and this is more an excercise in attempting to create apologetics.

Thank you for the reply mediamogul. Can I ask for some clarifications?

1. To which prophets are you referring? biblical or contemporary?

2. Jesus actually condemned the religious leaders of the day for this exact thing (trying to remove the splinter from your neighbor's eye while ignoring the plank in your own). "I would dispute your assertion of precisely the same way and on precisely the same grounds."

I would make the case that many of the tenants of Christianity are unique, though in your eyes perhaps equally as wrong. That would be a discussion for another time as I didn't come here to proselytize.

3. is a legitimate question. I'll bring it up to the group.

4. I don't guess I know the Christians you know, but I'll give this one some thought.

5. You will not hear any of these comments from me.

6. I would absolutely defend your right to believe as you wish. I would question how adequately any of these world views would serve you in the long run.

To be fair, your questions also seem to indicate a fundamentalist mindset of no matter what you are not going to give up your beliefs.

I did state from the beginning that my intention was to use these questions to create apologetics.

Thanks,
Adam C

I must warn you, I'm hung like a bull squirrel.

Just a side note, did you know the phrase "hung like mule" has its origins in the bible? Ezekiel 23:20. Not many Sunday sermons on that one though.

1) Any supposed prophet from Moses to Mohammed to David Karesh. Take your pick. It's funny that one has a much easier time accepting "prophets" from the bible and other times but they have magically seemed to disappear in modern times now that we are more informed in terms of science and mental illness.

2) Each of the monotheistic religions claims that their holy book is the "word of god" and we know this because it says so and we know that it is true because it is infallible and it is infallible because it is the word of god and so on into the circular argument abyss.

6) That doesn't address the meat of the question which is why is it a valid argument to say you believe religion based on faith but not social, political, medical, and scientific theories. The question is why is faith a good thing when it allows a person to believe any manner of thing and remove it from the realm of rational discourse.

One last thing: How does my viewpoint even approximate anything like fundamentalism? In every question I am questioning faith and demanding reason and evidence as the sole basis of belief. Fundamentalism is the resolve to hold one's beliefs as true in spite of all these things. It sounds like you have made up your mind that no matter what you are going to hold to your beliefs even if reason and evidence indicate they are false. But hey we are cool as long as you don't pull the "Atheism is a religion. It requires faith." card.

"school" implies they'll actually be learning something factual.

My most humble apologies brother, I mistakenly addressed a comment directed toward me specifically. If you believe you need to put distance between yourself and others of your faith to preserve you work, then I can only grant you that space.

Hi Adam, Please feel free to post the results of your "experiment" here on this thread. I am sure we would all like to hear about it.

Quite often you may ask for clarification from a member here and will find that another member has answered.... as in my case. So do not think for one minute that I had ignored you. Big Grin

Thanks Kichi,
I believe I'm going to sign off from here now. I've got what I needed and no need to overstay my welcome. This is your house and you've been gracious hosts to an uninvited guest. But you don't really want us here anyway and I know that guests and dead fish both start to stink if you leave them overnight.

I may reach out to some of you when we're done if you care to hear how it goes.

Except Phil. He doesn't like me.

Take care,
Adam Christian
