Same as the others, if asked, I'll tell. I don't mind sharing it out loud either, however in places like work for example, I will keep it to myself unless asked.

Should keep them at bay.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them. BTW, as far as what type of atheist I am - poly, I lack belief in many gods. I too am a versatile unbeliever. If asked if I'm an atheist the answer is yes. If asked what kind I would have to say in all modesty the good kind.
I have to keep it a secret to my father-in-law and his family, because my wife asks me to. The thing is they're not even very religious, they're just old school conservatives that are led to believe all atheists are baby eating satan worshippers. I have been dropping hints in a roundabout way, however, and I think my father-in-law is catching on.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
'If asked, I'll tell' has been my policy in the past. I'm pretty sure most of my friends know, some people at work do, my father's side of the family does (although I was in my forties before any of them wondered if I was anything but a lapsed Pentecostal). I'm reconsidering the policy though, in light of the pestering I get from my dad's side. I think if someone on my mother's side (different flavor of Pentecostal) asks, I'll just tell 'em I'm a Unitarian (true enough) to avoid the hassle. Unless someone else told them, no one at work who 'outranks' me knows: I'd rather not put my conservative Catholic boss in the position of possibly being influenced in her decisions about me by something that isn't any of her business anyway, and she (quite properly, in my opinion) has never asked.
I don't wear it on my sleeve because I teach young people and I don't think they should have to confront whatever issues it would bring up in order to have a productive relationship with their mathematics instructor.
I'm open about it, but only if I'm asked or it comes up in conversation.
I have no reason to put a veil over the fact, so I tell anyone who asks, though most people I meet assume I am.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
