JESUS CHRIST: Myth or Historical Person?
RE: JESUS CHRIST: Myth or Historical Person?
1. Moses did, and he wasn't even alive, let alone God.

2. Jesus was God. Ergo, he could do whatever he wanted. If God wanted to split himself into 10000 pieces/sons/daughters/nieces/brothers/cousins/plastic ponies/roommates and sacrifice all of his own selves instead of 1 at the exact same moment, he theoretically could have. Remember: he's God.

3. If humans could spread his message, why couldn't God?

Although Yahweh is beginning to sound like a lame roommate.

"Hey, ummm... Guys? I'm gonna save all of your souls and everything, but could you spread my message for me? I'm a little busy, and a bit low on cash."
"Listen, strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power derives from a mandate by the masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony!"

Oh for fuck sake!

Jesus was a pious Jew. The religion he taught was traditional Judaism; you had to be a Jew or convert to belong to his sect. That tiny Jewish sect was de-Jewified only after Jesus' death, especially by Paul,to become "Christianity". There are no new ideas, moral codes or theology in Christianity.

I did not know another book had been written about Jesus, the one I read tells of a way for all to see God through the death and resurrection of Jesus, with no work involved.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Do I smell a concession that everything we have about JC comes from that one book? Methinks we can see daylight!
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I would say Jesus Christ was a historical person. At the least if God did not exist, He would be a legend to which super-naturalism was implanted later on in the story.

I have seen what people try to pass off as Jesus myths and am shocked if anyone actually believes them. Having studied other cultures, those myths are just recent fabrications and do not connect with the historicity of the actual myths.

And the evidence for that is .......................................?

So basically we have a Jesus without the supernatural powers? A Superman who can't fly, has no super-strength, isn't bulletproof etc etc. An Invisible Man who isn't invisible. So why should we give a crap about him?

(Apologies to DeistPaladin who would certainly put this point much better than I have.)

Well some of us enjoy history.

First you have to demonstrate that the JC character is a part of history. And thank you for the implied arrogance; I've never had that before.
