From an early age...I've been saying "I witness there is no God but God and Mohammad is his Messenger".
The statement is not only stating I believe this is the case, but that I witness that, in other words, I know it to be true.
You have to state this in each prayer, which is done five times a day, so I've been telling myself Mohammad is the Messenger of God and that I know it to be true for most of my life.
If I ever have doubts, when I would pay, then I would have testify to knowing it, which essentially means I would convince myself I knew Mohammad is the Messenger of God.
It essentially caves into your mind, and you essentially convince yourself you know it to be true.
