Aberdeen council election candidate

Rather amusing.

Quote:A woman has been arrested after a shop dummy was entered as a candidate for the council elections in Aberdeen.

The mannequin - which it understood to have been seized by police - originally appeared on the list of potential councillors for the Hazlehead, Ashley and Queens Cross ward.

Grampian Police said a woman, 63, has been charged under the Representation of the People Act.

The dummy was entered under the name Helena Torry.

From the Independant:

"We shall never know now what Ms Torry might have achieved in public life, but the initials signs were promising. “I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views,” wrote a relatively unknown senator from Illinois seven years ago. He might just win a second term in the White House at the end of the year."

Under what part of the Representation of the People Act is it an offence to enter a mannequin for election? Confused Fall

Something they can be thrown out for and ridiculed for, yes, but hardly charged for.

Haven't the police got actual jobs to do?
