There may not be a god...

RE: There may not be a god...
Freethinkers are those who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing to understand things that clash with their own customs, privileges, or beliefs. This state of mind is not common, but it is essential for right thinking...”

An in between. I don't think any theist has come here and not changed their view on some things, on things never even considered, at least the ones still here, even if we don't succumb to your wholly thinking, are very daily clash of ideas is but a challenge.

I usually try to avoid those kind of people too...:p

Alas, I cannot convince you that there is a god, as I have tried to convince myself and failed miserably. However, I am 99.9 percent certain that if there is a god they are not as described by any of our major religions. Furthermore, anyone who thinks that a being which created the entire universe is so simplistic, fallible, prone to hissy fits and as insecure as those described by our major religions, is seriously deluded. For me, that only leaves science or some sort of supreme conscious energy. The former hasn't given us all the answers to the origins of the universe, but we're getting pretty close. The latter, if I'm honest, is my way of hanging onto the hope that there is a god out there, somewhere. Incidentally, if I ever meet the fucker, they are going to get seriously bitch-slapped.

You "hope" (and admit it!) that there is something out there, is the sum total of your belief system? You'll be atheist within weeks.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

It's not the sum total of my belief system, however, when I look at my belief system analytically and logically, yes, that is basically the conclusion that I come to. I guess I'm just not prepared to commit myself to god(s) without proof, but at the same time I'm still not prepared to say that they don't exist without proof. I've been told that it is an intellectually cowardly standpoint, but meh. I've been around these discussions and debates on both atheist and theist forums for years, yet in all that time, neither side has presented me with enough evidence to convince me that their stance is the correct one.

There just isn't a god - hopefully you're now convinced.

Haha, I've been on some spectacular atheists forums. There was one Facebook page, "Pray For an Atheist", which was pretty much taken over by the atheist members. Anyway, the minister/pastor who run the page ended up having to shut it down. It wasn't because of the largely atheist membership, however. No, he was exposed, for well, exposing himself to one of the female atheists, via pm. Big Grin

It was a shame really because that page was awesome.
