Obama's church buddies on his new gay marriage stance

You're sure as shit right we would. The civil rights and the women's suffrage movements were both considered "small issues" by the majority during their time, but I highly doubt you'd be making similar arguments about them.

I find it funny that you're quick to decry wasting time legalizing gay marriage, but you're all for wasting time outlawing gay marriage; the point here is, you're a bigot. You're a bigot because you're using unemployment as a shield so as to not have to confront the fact that your religion has absolutely nothing to do with your disliking of gay rights, your spiteful hatred of homosexuals does.

And for the record, I'm fairly certain it was your hyper-Christian republican president who fucked up the economy to the point where unemployment is as bad as it is. You are the problem, not us.

You're a fucking bigot and a hypocrite. You sit there and tell us that there are "far more pressing issues" than gay marriage, and then applaud North Carolina for focusing on this "small issue" rather than "helping people who are in need." As if the government cannot help people in need while giving people the rights they deserve.

Who are you to impose your religious beliefs and bigotry onto individuals by means of law? Who are you to tell two people they can't truly love each other, and therefore shouldn't be given the same legal status as heterosexual couples?

Hovik Wrote:Except here's the basic issue: marriage is a social right that predates Christianity by quite a lot. You don't have a monopoly on marriage, and your religion has no right to say who can and cannot marry. It's as simple as that. Let's look at what you just said from another perspective, shall we?
"I did not say women should not have rights, I do not believe they should be able to vote, they have all the rights the rest of us do, except for voting and the few things that would go along with that."
See how changing just a few words points out the utter ridiculousness of your argument? Voting and marriage have in common that they're both social rights that are independent of your religion; they both also predate Christianity by a huge margin.

What you did with my statement takes over half the population out of voting. That's not even reasonable to compare with what I said. Let's set something straight, I'm against gay marriage, because it is against the nature of God's idea of marriage.
Marriage does not predate God it is an institution He made, and if you will carefully read Genesis you will see that gays were not included, and were actually punished.

Hovik Wrote:Uh, I don't know, perhaps because unemployment has fuck all to do with gay marriage?

Unemployment is a far greater need to deal with, families all across this country need jobs to live, gays do not need marriage to live. Of course you would rather see anything that goes against God's righteousness made law, than to see people who need help get it, now that is what I call truly heartless.

Because God made the institution of marriage, and it does not include gays, and I can say this because it is my lawful right by the Constitution of my country, and the majority of states say no, no, and no.

No, it was the money grubbing ungodly who screwed up our economy, so by your own definition, yes, it is people like you who are responsible for the shape this country is in.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Destroying the rights of even a single individual destroys all of our rights. Keeping even a single person from his or her rights is just as bad as keeping us all from them.

Marriage is a social institution, not a religious one. Any argument to the contrary is simply persistence in delusion.

Coincidentally, you don't need marriage to survive, either. So, um, we're going to go ahead and take that from you. Gay marriage has nothing to do with our economy, pick a more relevant red herring.

Actually, it was policy and the strain of an unnecessary war. Your bigoted bullshit is unfounded. Do yourself a favor and do some research before you vomit out your uneducated opinions that have no root in fact.

Yeah, you can say whatever you want to about what you think is "real marriage" Just like you can be a racist and think a certain race is sub-human. What your beliefs are doesn't mean you can enforce them on others. As long as you mentioned the constitution, perhaps reading the first amendment might help you understand that a little better.

For the record, I'd be completely happy replacing the word marriage with the word civil union, so long as the same definition replies to both homosexual and heterosexual couples. Marriage under law is NOT a religious institution, it can't be due to the constitution. It's a social one as hovik said.

Yeah, and that same Constitution says your religion has to stay out of my legislation. Ergo, your religious beliefs on marriage have no bearing whatsoever on the state's definition of marriage.

In short, fuck you.

No, I can and will vote my Godly mind and heart, I've never said that I was forcing my beliefs on anyone, that statement is your's and it's wrong. If gay marriage is to be law the people of this country should decide through the vote. The Constitution does not say my faith has to stay out of legislation, again I will vote my Godly mind and heart and that's my Constitutional right.

In the United States of America, we are a secular state. What that means is we have a separation of church and state. What that means is that your religion has no place in politics. Your "Godly mind and heart" are just bigotry hidden behind religion. Your religion disgusts me anyway.

Where did you get I was a racist, I know it could not be from me, know why, guess what my race is, bro. You are the bigoted one. My attitude towards gays has to do with their chosen life style, as people I have nothing against them. I understand the first amendment well, and it never states that I can not exercise my Godly heart and mind in the way I see fit with in the law.
