1 Timothy 2:12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
Colossians 3:18 - Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 11:5 - But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with [her] head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
Colossians 1:18 - And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

Should man rule over women for women’s own good?

Ohhhh, you mean equality of salvation, not equality of things in the here and now. How convenient.

I do mean equallity here and now for instance I don't treat women with any disrespect. In the church I go to no one is treated unfairly, both men and women get a say in things that happen. No one is excluded, every one is excepted

My church respects every part of the Bible. I have met women, who through their on choice believe what the the Bible says about the issue of equality. As I already mentioned the Bible says women are to be treated with respect and dignity and are to be viewed as equals. This is what the Bible says, this is how I treat women, with dignity and equality.
My wife is a christian - I am not. My wife honors and respects me at all times as a part of her faith. Even when I'm not deserving of her respect, she still gives it to me. Unmerited grace is a very powerful catalyst for growth and change. I never take advantage of my wife's goodness, and in fact, it is her goodness which ensure that I never will. I am blessed by my wife's obedience to her faith.

I am however familiar with the passages that say lovely things like "if a virgin is raped, her rapist must marry her after paying 50 shekels to her father", or "if a woman is raped in the city, both her and the rapist are to be killed". And I find it very, very hard to believe that you accept every part of the bibble.

If your wife decided tomorrow that she didn't want to be submissive and obedient to you, would it ruin your marriage? Would you still love her? Would you think her a bad person? Our marriage is built on a foundation that has withstood far greater trials. Losty Wrote:Would you still love her?Unequivocally, yes. Losty Wrote:Would you think her a bad person? No. I would be very concerned for her if such a dramatic character shift were to take place so suddenly. She is the kindest person I've ever known. Dear FatandFaithless
The Bible does say that women are equal to men as I have said before the Bible does not say Jesus died on the cross only for men. It says clearly "For God so loved the world he gave his one and only son that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life"John 3 16. Explain how this is not gender equality. In fact this is an example of un just love for he enter human race, God could have destroyed every single human in hell, but instead sent his son to die so "who ever believes in him" can live with him and enjoy eternal life. His is biblical equality. |
