It's ok. We enjoy your ability to straddle tall fences without ever touching the ground.

By "ground" you mean solely depending on science to answer the question. It's self-refuting and circular.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

Feel welcome to retort or let me in on the joke. I'd be surprised if you can as it tends to be those of a certain belief set who can rationalise it (for what they deem to be suitable level) or find it funny.

Atheists tend to be like theists in how they approach any opposition, as they're both lucky enough to hold the 'truth'.

Or at least, until you answer me one question:
What in the name of Cthulu's court jester do you mean when you say that you are an agnostic? Agnostic in regards to what?
I am an agnostic atheist. When you say "question an atheist perspective", you surely mean to say you are a theist then?
You either believe in the magic sky fairy or you don't.
You either know he exists/doesn't exist, or you don't.
That's all there is to it.

Meh I'll change my answer.

You may base your atheism solely on theism, I base my agnosticism on not knowing. Two different things.

Ok, you don't know. Neither do I.
What do you believe?
That is what defines you as an atheist or a theist.
As theist/atheist is a true dichotomy, you must by logical necessity be one or the other. Trying to shirk this off is... silly.
My conclusion is that there is no reason to believe any of the dogmas of traditional theology and, further, that there is no reason to wish that they were true.
Man, in so far as he is not subject to natural forces, is free to work out his own destiny. The responsibility is his, and so is the opportunity.

Science isn't a belief system, it isn't a religion. It's a tool, a method to understand. It uses many principles that have been proven to work time and time again. The scientific method is the most accurate and detail way in understanding and explaining the unknown.

That is why I laugh at you. You're talking COMPLETE BOLLOCKS!!!

Not at all. I don't believe or disbelieve, as I have no reason to justify either. Can I say I 50% believe and 50% disbelieve?

Meaning and purpose...? Science? that doesn't even make sense.

Depends on how open- or closed-minded you are.

Quote:Hence, science is used as 'religion' by some people.

Really? Anyone who would seriously profess that misunderstands both science and religion.

Quote: I think it's fairly common for atheists to depend on science in this way.

Not much on thinking, are you?

Quote:[blink] I'm guessing[/blink] as science is rational and objective, and hasn't found evidence for a god it can be used in this way.

That's right. You are guessing. Filling in the gaps of what you don't know with whatever makes sense to you, no matter whether it is accurate or not. You are making shit up as you go along. This is what pathological liars do.

Quote: I'd imagine this line of thought only convinces the converted and the simple.

If you are talking about your speculation about science as "religion", you are completely right: that line of thought only convinces the converted (also known as the simple).

I must admit I'm disappointed the only response I could elicit from you is pointing out a typo.

Your nonsensical, disencontextualized OP rant deserves nothing than a heap of disappointment for you.
